The Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science of the University of Padova is one of DIAPHONIA’s partners. They are expert veterinary pathologists, anatomists, and physiologists of marine fauna including cetaceans and fish. As part of DIAPHONIA, BCA will look the effects of anthropogenic noise on behaviour, physiology, and pathology of fish and cetaceans. Our partners at the Department of Geosciences, are experts in the physics of mechanical waves; in the framework of DIAPHONIA, they are looking at how compressional and shear waves propagate around and through the dolphin’s anatomy.
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
The Marine Bioacoustics and Ecology Lab of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology has expertise in bioacoustics, aquaculture biology and ecophysiology, stress, pollution and other human impacts on cetaceans and fish. Experiments on the impact of noise on salmon will be conducted in Sandnes, in collaboration with the NINA aquaculture research station.
